Subject: Webinar: Hospital/Healthcare Emergency Managers: Preparing for the Unexpected Disaster
What started out as a discussion with Andy McGuire on using GIS to help with hospital preparedness planning and response has developed into a free webinar that I've arranged with Depiction (www.depiction.com). Because it is likely to be of interest to many of you we've decided to make the webinar available for anyone who's interested in the topic. See announcement below.
Ric Skinner, GISP

A large part of the Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA) carried out by hospitals and healthcare organizations focuses on events that have a "geographic" attribute -- whether the events are external or internal: Where the facility is located, where the event occurs, how to move people/supplies from where they are to where then need to be -- all require actions for which "location" should be considered in your decisions.
Join Ric Skinner, GISP* as he co-presents a webinar with the folks at Depiction so you can learn how Geographic Information System (GIS) technology can be used to help you "think spatially, decide visually, act wisely, and be satisfied" that you've satisfactorily planned for, prepared for, responded to, and recovered from many of the hazard events that your facility may be exposed to.
*Ric Skinner is Editor of the recently published book GIS in Hospital and Healthcare Emergency Management and is an independent consultant helping hospitals & healthcare organizations find the best vendors and tools to meet their healthcare preparedness needs. He is affiliated with Depiction as one of its Preferred Consultants.
